  • Extension Agent GPS Program (The Virginia Geospatial Extension Program)
    • The Extension Agent GPS Program will provide valuable tools and training to enhance the capabilities of Virginia’s extension agents and specialists. The Extension Agent GPS Program will enable extension agents to obtain more accurate information to support the needs of their local constituents.
  • GPS Adventure 2005 (4H NREE)
    • This workshop will cover: GPS operation; topo maps; magnetic compasses; digital mapping; GPS in ANR field work and 4-H youth education; acreage measurement; & GPS/FRS radio capabilities. Participants will be using equipment in class and field exercises. Cost: $42, registration, meals, & lodging.

  • OVERspace (Virginia Space Grant Consortium)
    • OVERspace is a pre-college teacher professional development program for implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the Global Positioining System (GPS) into the classroom.
  • Southside GIS Expo (The Virginia Southside GIS User Group )
    • The GIS Expo will focus on GIS applications in Public Safety, Economic Development, Utilities, Planning, and Education. The GIS Expo will offer panel and workshop sessions geared towards the Southside region. Workshop sessions will include training in GPS, ArcGIS, and general GIS applications.
