Attendance
Laboratory attendance is mandatory. Points will be deducted from the laboratory portion of the grade for unexcused absences from lab. Anticipated absences should be cleared ahead of time. Legitimate excuses for absences include field trips required in other courses, required court attendance, religious observances, illness or injury to yourself, or illness or death in your family. Unanticipated absences must be reported within a week of return to class to be excused. If you MUST miss lab (yikes!) for something important, please let the teaching assistants know ahead of time. They will do their best to help you to get the information you will need. If you miss a local field trip you will be required to visit the site for three hours on your own time. See the TAs for directions.Lecture attendance is NOT mandatory, but students will be responsible for all material presented in lecture, and not all such material will be available on the course web site.
