Burkes garden is a beautiful spot about 2.5 hours southwest of here. I hope that we will see bald and golden eagles, kestrels, northern harriers, rough-legged hawks, red-tailed hawks, bluebirds and many other species.We will leave around 8:00am Saturday and return before 6:30pm the same day. It really is a beautiful place. Some folks are considering camping out in the surrounding mountains. It will be cold, but the surrounding mountains are a great place to back pack and camp out.
Here are the directions in case you want to know how to get there. Actually, there are several ways to get there, these directions are from mapquest:
Take the US-460 W towards BLUEFIELD 46.28 miles
Merge onto I-77 S (Portions toll) 7.81 miles
Get back on route US-460 W.
Take the ramp towards TAZEWELL. 0.27 miles
Keep RIGHT at the fork in the ramp. 0.05 miles
Stay straight to go onto US-19 BR/US-460 BR. 1.24 miles
Turn SLIGHT LEFT onto VA-61. 4.92 miles
Turn RIGHT onto VA-623. 7.59 milesTotal Estimated Time: Total Distance: 93.57 miles
