Types of Flowers Found on Trees
Every tree species produces flowers, and that these flowers come in many different forms. Some, like those commonly pictured in textbooks, have perfect flowers, meaning that male and female parts are contained in the same flower. Other tree species have imperfect flowers, meaning their flowers contain either male or female parts, but not both. Of the tree species with imperfect flowers, some will be monoecious ("one house") meaning that male and female flowers are borne on the same tree. Still other trees will be dioecious ("two houses") meaning that male and female flowers are borne on separate trees.
