The College of Natural Resources Alumni Board of Directors was founded on October 7, 2000. Steve Lindeman is currently serving as President. Four committees were formed: Development, Program, Awards, and Scholarship. | Steve joined the Conservancy’s
Clinch Valley Program in Abingdon, Virginia in 1999, and is responsible
for the start-up and day-to-day operations of this new forestry
program of The Nature Conservancy. He received a Bachelor of Science
in Forestry and Wildlife Resources from Virginia Tech in 1983,
Master of Forestry and Master of Environmental Management degrees
from Duke Universities’ Nicholas School of the Environment
in 1994. His forestry experience includes wood procurement, land
management, and landowner assistance work with forest industry
and private non-profit organizations throughout the Eastern United
States, primarily in the South. He is a Certified Forester through
the Society of American Foresters. Membership in professional
organizations includes the Forest Guild, the Society of American
Foresters, and the Forest History Society. He has received critical
support since college from his wife of nineteen years, Christine. |

Guilliams '95 |

| Lane Guilliams ’95 works as the Conservation Education Specialist for the Va. Dept. of Conservation and Recreation. She received a bachelor’s degree in forestry in 1995. She presently serves as a representative on several committees including the Va. Resource Use Education Council, the Va. Assoc. of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Education Committee and the Chesapeake Bay Program Education Committee. She and her husband reside in Chesterfield County and enjoy hiking, traveling and gardening. | |
Delton
Alderman '82 |

| Delton joined the USDA Forest Service - Research & Development branch in Princeton, WV, as a research scientist in August 2001. His research includes hardwood veneer quality, technology transfer, and competitiveness of the US forest industries. Delton is a founding member of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Forest Industries Center at Virginia Tech. He received a B.S. in Forestry and Wildlife Industtrial Forestry Operations in 1982 and after spending 14-years in the industry, he returned to VPI earning both a M.S. (1998) and Ph.D. (2001) in Wood Science and Forest Products in the forest products marketing option. He is a registered forester, Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Affiliate Member, and belongs to the Forest Products Society and the American Marketing Association. Delton resides in Blacksburg, VA and enjoys fishing, hunting, and traveling. | |

Linda

| Linda is a native of Hopewell, Virginia. She has a degree in Forestry & Wildlife Management from V.P.I. , 1980. She has worked for 9 years in the timber industry with Continental Forest Industries, 6 years in land management and 3 years developing and selling real estate for the company' s real estate subsidiary. She began work for The Nature Conservancy in 1989 as the Director of Protection for the South Carolina program. She returned to Virginia as Director of Land Protection for The Nature Conservancy in Virginia in 1994. Her job is to oversee the acquisition and/or other forms of protection for both rare and representative species and natural communities in Virginia. She is married to Kevin Crowe. Linda and Kevin are managed by their college-aged sons, Kai and Bram. They love hiking, canoeing and playing music, among other things. |

Harrell Turner '71 |

| C. Harrell Turner retired as the fiber supply manager of the Forest Resources Group of the International Paper Company in Franklin, Va in 2003. His career with Union Camp Corp./International Paper has spanned 29 years. Turner received a B.S. in forestry and wildlife in 1971. He iscurrently co-owner of his own business,Turner Forestry, LLC. His professional affiliations include membership in the Virginia Forestry Association, the North Carolina Forestry Association, the Forest Resources Association, the Society of American Foresters, and the Virginia Board of Reforestation, including four years as chairman of that organization. He iscurrently serving as Chairman of the Virginia Board of Forestry, VP-President Elect of the Virginia Forestry Association, and President of the Airfield 4H/Conference Center Board of Directors. Harrell and his wife Cynthia have three children and reside in Branchville. He enjoys fishing, camping, and travel. | |

Lisa
Schabenberger '93 |

| Lisa is a 1993 graduate of the wildlife management program and received her M.S. degree in forestry in 1996. After graduation, she lived in Michigan, where she worked for the Wildlife Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and later for a forestry trade organization, dealing with legislative issues and forest policy. Lisa says that one of her happiest times was when she and her husband, Oliver, moved back to Blacksburg and she began working for her Alma Mater. Lisa was the diversity enrollment management specialist for the College of Natural Resources at Virginia Tech from 1999 to 2002. She now lives in Cary, North Carolina, and is the departmental program coordinator for the Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources at North Carolina State University. | |
