This champion Southern Sugar Maple, Acer barbatum, was jointly nominated by Byron Carmean, Dr. Donna Ware, and Gary Flemming. Located on a bluff overlooking Grove Creek in James City County, this tree appears healthy and is not in any danger.This champ has a circumference of 131 inches, a height of 105 feet, and an average crown spread of 63 feet - giving a final score of 252 points!
